Oct 11 Tales from a year of Moneytalk Islington event

Monday 17th October, 4.30pm - 7pm
Royal Society of Medicine

60 people were in attendance, enjoying a series of speeches and stories from a range of contributors, followed by canapés and a networking reception. We kept the Moneytalk Islington spirit very much at the forefront of the proceedings, with creative name badge making, music from Blue Rose Code and a money tree and money river activities, which encouraged attendees to think about their own financial competence and confidence.

Kaz and Del, Moneytalk and Made of Money development workers, hosted with genuine aplomb and humour, proving why they have such a rapport with the parents they train. Thanks to everyone who came along for joining in what was an inspirational evening. QSA director Judith Moran summed it all up with these words:

"We believe in putting something new into the world, and we couldn't do it without the investment of time or energy or affirmation from funders, partners, critical friends and supporters. Doing something for the first time is taking a leap into the unknown and one of the reasons for holding this event is to say a heartfelt thank you to all of you have leapt with us.

It is critical that we deliver our mission, enabling people living on low incomes in east London to seek solutions to the issues that affect their lives, but equally critical we do this in the right way. What we do is inherently practical, but this does not have to be devoid of fun, life and light, as I hope tonight has shown. Really, what I am saying is that we aim to do things with integrity and anchored by a strong value base. The people we work with, quite frankly, deserve nothing less."
