People, parties and power: Chris Gittens, who has been working to help people in Bristol meet each other and build neighbourly communities says of QSA's newest project: “Knees Up took a bold step encouraging street parties, just trusting the natural goodwill that they knew residents would have, and it worked. Their hunch that they could rely on residents’ natural curiosity about their neighbours as a Trojan horse into deeper community engagement really worked. It has been a lesson to anyone who works in such diverse communities and estates.” We are really proud of our work in this area and have published this booklet to celebrate this area of our work. Neil Johnson, chair of trustees, Judith Moran, QSA Director and Edward Mackay, Knees Up project manager launched "People, parties and power: Turning east London upside down" at Britain Yearly Meeting 2008. Please continue to support this important and innovative piece of work which has only been made possible by the support of the individuals who believed this was work that was worth persuing. We hope after reading People, parties and power that you will agree! To donate to Knees Up or any of our other services please click here. For more information on Knees Up, please go here
