Knees Up volunteers

Volunteering opportunity: 4 - 8 hours a week, up to six months, Knees Up (based in Bethnal Green)
The project works on Tues, Weds and Thurs, as well as some Sundays for street parties, so you should be available to volunteer on these days.

Knees Up uses street parties to bring people together on east London estates, building safer and more sociable neighbourhoods. We need someone to help build and develop external relationships and to communicate and promote what we and the residents are doing. Activities include researching all pre-existing services provided in and around an estate, keeping up-to-date lists of activities on offer to residents, working alongside the manager to build effective working relationships with service providers, seeking out new relationships with a wide range of audiences, attending networking opportunities, communicating to external stakeholders through a monthly newsletter and about the project, national and local issues through social media.

We are able to reimburse travel within London by public transport and lunch and will offer regular supervision and support.

Closing date: As soon as possible

What will volunteering for Knees Up be like?

This is a creative project with a real positive outlook, so hopefully a lot of fun!

Knees Up is a community development project which engages intensively with residents on one estate for a year, to open up the potential that exists in the community and bring possibilities to the doorstep. It provides a good opportunity for you to enhance a whole range of skills, from communication to event planning and coordination. The volunteering opportunities are designed so that you can mix and match activities to find the right role for you.
