Looking to the future
In April 2011 we launched 'practical responses to the challenges of poverty'; QSA's 2011-2014 strategic plan, with support from Pilotlight, a national charity bringing the expertise of business leaders to the third sector. In it we set out an analysis of the need for our work in east London, the political landscape and the sector around us, and an overview of what our response will be over the next three years.
The key messages of our plan are that:
- we believe the next three years will be difficult ones, for us, for others in the sector and especially for those people who are our core beneficiaries - people on low incomes
- we conclude that this is a time for pragmatism and for being proactive about having to do more, with less
- we believe that our strategy, a practical approach to poverty, will be even more in demand over the lifetime of this plan
- we wish to be able to respond creatively and effectively to emerging needs
- we anticipate challenging times ahead, but we believe we are - and will be - fit for purpose.
We identified three year targets in six key areas of work:
- Focus (operational work within east London)
- Sharing (operational work beyond London)
- Engagement (beneficiaries, staff & trustees)
- Collaboration (local partnerships)
- Effectiveness (impact & communication)
- Efficiency (finance & resources)
